Transmission Line Experience

ICC has the capability of handling all phases of construction of transmission lines. ICC specialises in the Design, Furnishing of materials, Erection, Testing and Commissioning of a complete Transmission Line System. Todate, over 10,000 Km of Distribution and Transmission Lines ranging from 11 KV to 500 KV have been constructed by ICC. Their highly qualified and experienced engineers, supervisors and technicians are capable of handling all projects in an expeditious manner.

The attached brochure, among other things, gives the information about their key technical personnel and list of transmission line projects completed by them.

ICC owns two complete sets of tension stringing equipment suitable for 4 Bundle conductor. Details of other tools and plants for survey, tower foundation, tower erection and stringing operations available with them are given in the attached Brochure.

ICC has completed many transmission lines upto 220KV for WAPDA on turnkey basis. Most of the transmission lines upto 220KV in KESC system have been built by ICC on turnkey basis. Even now ICC

RECENT TRANSMISSION LINE PROJECTS

500KV HUB-JAMSHORO TRANSMISSION LINES
In some ways this was a similar project to the proposed Keti Bandar transmission line whereby two independent 500 KV transmission line circuits of 180 KM each were required to be built to connect the private sector 4 x 323 MW Hubco power plant with Jamshoro Hub. ICC collaborated with Saudi Cable Company Marketing of Xenel to jointly secure financing from Islamic Development Bank, and subsequently execute this US 84 million project in a record time.

In the joint collaboration, ICC played a major role of Construction management, which included Design and Engineering; Supply of Tower Paint; Handling, Storage and Inland Transport of all materials; Construction and Commissioning. SCCM supplied Tower, Conductor and Conductor Accessories while Wapda was responsible for supplied of Insulators and Line Hardware.
ICC’s scope of work covered the following:

· Complete Engineering & Design.
· Route Survey and preparation of profile.
· Soil Investigation.
· Inland transportation of plant & equipment from port to site.
· Checking and preparing of material receiving and/or damage reports.
· Storage of Plant and equipment.
· Design and construction of foundations.
· Supply of paint and painting of towers..
· Tower erection.
· Stringing of conductor and Earthwire.
· Testing & Commissioning.

The project was awarded in June, 1994 and the first line was to be completed in a very demanding target of 18 months i.e. by end November, 1995 to coincide with the first power plant unit scheduled to be commissioned in December 1995. The second line was to be completed in 25 months i.e. by end May, 1996.

ICC accepted the challenge and despite delay in opening of Material letters of Credit by Wapda, the first line was completed ahead of schedule in November 1995. The second line was completed in October 1996, the delay being caused by Wapda’s inability to get clearance of imported materials due to non-availability of funds.

The line was built using galvanised steel lattice towers. Over sixty percent of galvanised towers, located in the polluted area were treated with epoxy based paint with a guarantee against corrosion of fifteen years and a life expectancy of paint for twenty years. Stainless steel hardware was used for the entire line length and stringing  was carried out by utilizing tension stringing methods using four bundles of 470mm2 All Aluminium Alloy Conductor per phase.

Here, we consider it worthwhile to mention that ICC was also responsible for the Mechanical Installation of the four Turbines and Generators, Pipelines and Power Plant Electrical Works for HUBCO as a subcontractor to Ansaldo Spa of Italy.

KESC 220 KV & 132 KV TRANSMISSION LINES
6th Power Project
KESC Sixth Power Project Overhead Lines were awarded to us on 2nd June, 1996. The project is financed by Asian Development Bank. The job is on turnkey basis comprising of design, survey soil investigation, civil works, painting, erection, stringing and commissioning of 83 KM of 220 KV and 97 KM of 132 KV Transmission Lines

ICC was the only Pakistani company qualified to Bid for this project which was awarded against International Competitive Bidding.

The project completion time is 23 months. Some of the lines to which private power plants are to be connected were to be completed within 7 to 9 months time, which ICC took it as a challenge and all geared up to complete these lines in stipulated time to avoid penalty to the Customer.
